Introduction. Scientific literature reports that health care professional students are exposed to psychosocial risk during their training activities. Population and methods. This paper aims at studying the psychosocial risk factors of 287 students attending the courses of Medicine, Nursing, Dental hygiene, and Biomedical laboratory techniques of University of Modena and Reggio Emilia during the academic year 2008-2009. A 47-item questionnaire was employed. The items were grouped in 10 factors: reward, autonomy, variety, justice, social support, work conditions, work-load, strain, self-effectiveness, satisfaction. Results. A positive opinion was recorded in 70,4% of students. The students willingly attend their activities and are in good terms with their fellows. They complain about the intensity and pace of work and the lack of flexibility in their working hours. Healthy students express higher opinions as regards autonomy, justice and satisfaction. Practicing regular physical activity is associated with positive opinions as to work-load.Conclusion. During their formative process, health care professional students complain a variety of psycho-social risks, although at a lower extent in comparison with health care personnel of the same setting.
