Calvino, Celati e il narrare in forme brevi

Since the origins of Italian literature, the art of storytelling puts together heterogeneous narrative forms that have in common the brevitas as an organizational criterion of the contents. The essay deals with the tradition of medieval and Renaissance narratio brevis starting from contemporary narrative suggestions and the twentieth-century critical debate on short forms. In the era of storytelling it is perhaps useful to remember the richness and topicality of the most ancient short story tradition and its many transformations.

Fin dalle origini della letteratura italiana l’arte del racconto si nutre di forme narrative eterogenee che hanno in comune la brevitas come criterio organizzativo dei contenuti. Il saggio affronta la tradizione della narratio brevis medievale e rinascimentale a partire dalle suggestioni narrative contemporanee e dal dibattito critico novecentesco sulle forme brevi. Nell’era dello storytelling è, forse, utile fare il punto sulla ricchezza e sull’attualità della più antica tradizione novellistica e delle sue molteplici trasformazioni.
