This article will focus on the epistemological, cultural, normative problems as well as the design principles related to the so-called practice-based doctorates. Given the extreme complexity of the topic, the A. will deal with it by using the ‘Five Ws’ and One H’, allowing for an expedient exposition. In the conclusions, guidelines and a future orientation for the full development and implementation of practice-based doctorates will be provided.
