This study investigates the teacher’s quality in temporary in-service second grade teachers through the Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale by Tschannen-Moran & Woolfolk Hoy (2001). Four professional dimensions of teacher efficacy are identified and assessed: student engagement, classroom management, instructional strategies and “traditional” strategies. For each dimension different opinions about relevance in the profession (scale of importance) are investigated. Furthermore the relationship between perceived quality and professional context is examined to point out relevant differences between second grade teachers (middle school teachers and high school teachers), and between general teachers and special education teachers.
