The Dialogue critically analyses the relationship between economics and law and between economic and legal sciences. The basic thesis, expounded by Alberto Quadrio Curzio, is that dialogue between the two disciplines is still possible and in progress, but at the same time is made more difficult by the way economic models are represented. A profound and non-ideological exchange between economics and law, however, remains essential for a full understanding and effective management of today’s world. The radical difference between the real economy and the financial world, in fact, poses original (and so far unresolved) problems of control on jurisprudence, resolvable only at a “supranational” level. The great challenges regarding the environmental issue and the combatting of inequality should, ultimately, be tackled at a “global” level through the combined efforts of economic and juridical sciences and policies.
