The influence of endorphins on the hemocyte migration of two molluscs, Planorbarius corneus and Viviparus ater, was tested. The whole sequence of beta-endorphin and its N- and C-terminal fragments stimulate hemocyte migration. Naloxone is able to partially reverse the endorphin effect. In V. ater hemocytes, the acetylated derivative of beta-endorphin has a significant stimulatory effect at lower concentration.

Abstract

The influence of endorphins on the hemocyte migration of two molluscs, Planorbarius corneus and Viviparus ater, was tested. The whole sequence of beta-endorphin and its N- and C-terminal fragments stimulate hemocyte migration. Naloxone is able to partially reverse the endorphin effect. In V. ater hemocytes, the acetylated derivative of beta-endorphin has a significant stimulatory effect at lower concentration.
